OVERVIEW
ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS
CJSF
DANCES AND ACTIVITIES
Dances are held several times a year immediately after school. Dances are for Orchard Hills Students only. Students on social probation, academic probation, with outstanding fines/fees, and/or with outstanding detentions are prohibited from participating. All students are expected to be picked up promptly at the end of each activity. Students who are not picked up by parents within 20 minutes after an activity may not be allowed to attend the next activity. Students may not leave an activity early unless they have a parent note.
LEADERSHIP/ASB CLASS
Leadership/ASB is an elective course offered in 7th and 8th grade. Leadership/ASB officers are elected each semester. Additional students may join the class with prior approval from the ASB advisor. A student interested in becoming an officer must meet the qualifying criteria outlined in TUSD School Board Policy. This criterion will be available during the application process.
SOCIAL PROBATION
Students who violate the Orchard Hills rules may be put on SOCIAL PROBATION. Any students on social probation are prohibited from participating in extra-curricular activities for each quarter they are established ineligible. Activities such as dances, assemblies, noon activities, after-school sports, attendance of evening events, end-of-the-year activities, etc. will be forfeited.
Students will be placed on social probation if:
- They receive two or more unsatisfactory (U) citizenship marks, and/or three or more needs improvement (NI) citizenship marks on a report card
- They receive two or more documented administrative disciplinary incidents, excluding tardy lock outs, that are recorded during the same quarter
- They are suspended from school for more than one day.
SPORTS
There are a variety of activities to challenge the competitive spirit. Activities may include:
Competitive Sports:
Athletic sports are available to students at each grade level. Practices and competitions take place after school. Orchard Hills students compete against other schools from TUSD. Satisfactory grades are required for participation, per TUSD Board Policy. Some of the competitive sports may include cross country, soccer, basketball and volleyball. These are subject to change without notice.
Intra-mural Sports:
Orchard Hills offers various intramural sports such as Volleyball and Basketball. Students compete against other Orchard Hills students and the competitions take place at lunch.
Lunch Competitions:
Orchard Hills offers various additional lunch competitions such as team kickball, handball, hacky sack and speed stacking.
YEARBOOK
All students at Orchard Hills will want to acquire their own copy of the yearbook, which is sold at the beginning of the year and distributed the last week of school.

UNIFORM POLICY
LOCKER ROOM POLICY
- Students are allowed to use a locker during class time only. Items must be removed after class.
- Locks will NOT be provided except by request from their assigned PE teacher.
- Personal locks are not allowed on PE lockers.
- Students are encouraged to keep valuables in their backpacks or school lockers during class time.
- Orchard Hills is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
- No food or drinks are permitted at any time in the P.E. locker room.
- Aerosol containers (including, but not limited to, Axe body spray, hairspray, deodorant/antiperspirant, etc) are not permitted on campus including the locker rooms at any time.
- Unsafe conduct will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary action.

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS
CROSS COUNTRY, BASKETBALL & VOLLEYBALL
- This is an intra-mural program, with no try-outs and no cuts.
- Practices will be held on campus, after school, with occasional travel to other schools for scrimmages.
- The emphasis is on sportsmanship and having fun.
- Students will learn the rules and strategies of each sport in a supportive environment, coached by middle-school teachers.
- Both experienced and novice athletes are encouraged to participate.
- Games will be self-refereed by students.
- Each sport will last for 6 weeks, culminating in a one-day “festival” at the end of the season.
- A grade-level “all star” team will be chosen to compete in the festival.
- The festival will be held during the school.day - parents are invited to attend. This is a unique opportunity to observe the students as they referee themselves and practice problem-solving techniques.
Registration:
- $45 for Cross Country (includes Dino Dash sign-up). $35 for Basketball & Volleyball. All are considered donations to the Tustin Public Schools Foundation, who assists in running these programs.

The registration donation covers the costs of the coaching staff, transportation to and from scrimmages, and the all-day festival at the end of the season. Additional donations are welcome and will help keep after-school sports available. Registration and donations may be completed online at https://www.tpsf.net/sports

The Orchard Hills Boys and Girls Volleyball team will be lead by Coach Sheveland and Coach Camama.

Youth Empowerment Club |
This club is the Orchard Hills School Chapter of Youth Empowerment in STEM (YES, http://yesstem.wixsite.com/stem). The club's mission is to connect with students to inspire and ignite a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We will promote STEM via discussion forums, STEM activities, and talks. Our goal is to encourage curiosity and creativity, help students develop critical skills, and showcase the endless possibilities within STEM fields. We will meet once a month during lunch.
